Paper cuttings:
Peter has been creating his paper cut images for close to 30 years.
Each original design is lightly sketched in reverse on the backside of black silhouette paper. The design is cut out using an artist knife, scalpel, and at times a pair of delicate scissors. Then, inch-by-inch, using cooked rice starch and a small brush the remaining image is mounted on museum board.
White-line Woodcut:
Peter creates in the uniquely American art form of white-line woodcuts. The white-line, single block, color woodcut is a relief printing process.
B.J.O. Nordfeldt, who became a prominent New Mexican artist in the 1920’s, is credited with creating this technique in 1915 at Provincetown, Massachusetts. Peter a Santa Fe visitor for some 36 years, studied white
Printing in Provincetown and is now interpreting his New England and New Mexican impressions.
