Nathalie MacDonald Weis — Porcelain ceramics
|
|
I love stories. I hear a group of words and it kindles the initial stages of a piece in my mind. A line from a song, a sentence from a book, a portion of a story from friends, family, or strangers, all have that same influence. These words are stored in my memory, and I internalize them by mixing them up with each other and incorporating my own emotions and feelings. The final product develops into a small ceramic figure with an aura from an inspirational assembly of words and an interwoven past. These small and decorative female figures, caught in an otherwise forgettable moment of time while being involved in an activity or thought, are created from a porcelain clay body for its delicacy, beauty, and preciousness. Their alluring poses entice a narrative while drawing the viewer in for closer inspection, which allows the onlooker to engage with the figure and all her complexities. |
