Chad Frownfelter — Ceramics
|
|
My current body of work is based on exploring shapes and forms on the kick wheel. The wheel sparked my initial attraction to ceramics nearly 12 years ago and has always played a major role in my studio work. Throughout the past I have often used the wheel as a tool and not as a means to strictly produce functional pottery. I have revisited wheel turned pottery in the past few years and am interested in creating and perfecting forms of function. My goals lie in the ergonomic and aesthetic placement of handles, lips, and feet while exploring different forms. In each new piece that I create, I strive for the perfect weight of the object so that it feels comfortable in the hands of the user. I am working mostly in porcelain and stoneware and am exploring new glazes and techniques of brushwork and slip designs simultaneously. This gives my pieces an added element of attraction and wonder. |
